Point Lookout
Located at the mouth of the Potomac River on the Chesapeake Bay. Constructed in 1830 as a one-and-a-half story wooden and masonry building. It was rebuilt as a two-story structure in 1883 with the light at 40 feet. It was the location of a Civil War prison camp which imprisoned as many as 52,264 Confederate soldiers. Considered to be the most haunted lighthouse in Maryland.
